Austrian manufacturer Glock Ges.m.b.H. produces the Glock series of polymer semi-automatic pistols. The Glock 17, a full size 9mm model, was first imported to the United States in 1986. The controversial ‘plastic’ handgun proceeded to revolutionize modern sidearms, with a lasting and substantial impact like no other.

In the 1980s, Austria’s counterterrorism unit, Einsatzkommando Cobra, requested a select-fire version of the Glock 17, which led to the development of Glock model 18. This machine pistol is generally fed from 33 round extended magazines which protrude far below the bottom of the magazine well. The G18’s high cyclic rate quickly exhausts even this substantial ammunition supply.

HeliBacon uses a Gen2 KPOS Scout Carbine Conversion system with a folding stock and a forward grip to minimize the muzzle climb that results from the G18’s high cyclic rate. This Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) configuration makes the recoil and ‘muzzle flip’ very manageable compared to firing the G18 as a handgun. The result is a fast shooting, low recoil, lightweight, controllable, compact system that is a pleasure to experience.

“I once fired a full-auto Glock.
Woah! Man did it rock!
The bullets did rip,
The muzzle did flip,
I decided to put it in a stock.”

The SilencerCo Maxim 9 is the world’s first holsterable, integrally suppressed, 9mm handgun. The Maxim 9 debuted in 2017, and integrates advanced pistol and suppressor technology while also delivering the reliability expected of a modern handgun. It feeds from Glock 9mm magazines, and allows for customizing the number of installed baffles in the suppressor.

HeliBacon’s addition of a full auto sear converts this semi-auto handgun to a machine pistol with a blistering cyclic rate of 1800-1900 rounds per minute. This is one of the fastest shooting firearms in the arsenal. We shoot it with the full baffle stack installed to help offset the muzzle rise from full auto fire. The suppressor gets so hot we have to place it on a metal surface after firing because it will melt right through a plastic folding table.

HK MP5K

The MP5 submachine gun, developed in the 1960s by German manufacturer Heckler & Koch, uses a roller-delayed blowback operation like the HK33/53 carbines, HK G3 battle rifle, and the HK21/23 belt-fed machine guns. The MP5 gained worldwide visibility and recognition during a daylight televised raid in 1980 when SAS commandos stormed the Iranian embassy in London, killing five terrorists and rescuing hostages in Operation Nimrod. Police and military forces now use the MP5 in over 100 countries, cementing the MP5 and its variants as one of the most popular submachine guns in history.

In 1976 Heckler & Koch introduced a shortened version of its MP5A2, intended for use in clandestine operations. The MP5K (K for kurz, meaning “short” in German) has a higher cyclic rate due to its lighter weight bolt. The barrel and cocking handle are also shorter. A true ‘pistol’ version of the MP5K does not have a shoulder stock, and its barrel is flush with the front of the foregrip, eliminating the possibility of attaching a suppressor. H&K also developed an “operational briefcase” designed to conceal the MP5K. With a trigger and safety mechanism in the briefcase handle, and a firing port on the side, the briefcase allows the machine pistol to be fired while contained fully inside the closed case.

HeliBacon’s arsenal features many factory original variants of the MP5, including the MP5A4, MP5A5, MP5SD, MP5K, MP5K-PDW and MP5/40.

“Great pistol. Wanted a kydex holster for concealed carry for my birthday. Got a tie instead. Made a decent single point sling out of the tie. Wife was not impressed.” – HeliBacon

The MP5K is the most compact member of the MP5 family. So compact that it fits inside the “Operational Briefcase.” Developed in the late 1970s by H&K, the Operational Briefcase is designed to house an MP5K, loaded with a 30 round magazine – not pencils and a sandwich. The briefcase handle incorporates a trigger and safety mechanism, and a firing port on the side allows the MP5K to be fired while contained fully inside the closed case.

The intended firing method is to turn the briefcase sideways, grip it with both hands, and hold it against one’s abdomen while firing. Awkward as this may seem, it is actually quite a lot of fun to do, but reloading a second magazine is something of a chore. VIP protection experts, when in need of compact full-auto capabilities, have tended to prefer the MP5K-PDW, Glock 18 or Micro Uzi, as these systems are adequately concealable, can be aimed while firing, and are much faster to reload.

“It’s fun to shoot. It’s also the only briefcase we’ve ever owned. It’s also way cooler than the Operational Fanny Pack.” – HeliBacon

Recover Tactical’s lead designer, Israeli weapons engineer Tamir Porat, created the 20/20 Stabilizer Kit for Glock handguns. Tamir gained experience working with high-tech polymers during the design of the popular Tavor rifle used by the IDF today. HeliBacon’s full-auto Gen5 Glock with Trijicon SRO optic, Lone Wolf threaded barrel, and GemTech Lunar 9 silencer mounts perfectly inside the 20/20 Stabilizer Kit. It is one of the lowest profile formats available for a mounted Glock pistol.

The Glock 18’s high cyclic rate results in substantial muzzle climb when fired as a handgun. Due to this tendency, HeliBacon mounts full-auto Glock pistols in a stock with shoulder support and a dedicated vertical grip to protect the forward hand. This Personal Defense Weapon (PDW) configuration makes the recoil and ‘muzzle flip’ very manageable. The result is a fast-shooting, low recoil, lightweight, controllable, compact system, that is a pleasure to experience.

This machine pistol is generally fed from 33 round extended magazines which protrude far below the bottom of the magazine well. The G18’s high cyclic rate quickly exhausts even this substantial ammunition supply.

To reduce muzzle rise, Glock developed the 18C (compensated) model which has four progressively larger compensator cuts in the barrel and a keyhole opening in the top of the slide, which vent gasses upward. We’ve fired our 18 and 18C models side by side and we promise you, the compensator cuts make a big difference. We also add a Surefire X300 light to the handgun, not because we’re shooting in the dark, but because the light protrudes past the front of the handgun and provides a muzzle shield while also adding weight to the front, thus aiding controllability.

“Firing a full-auto factory Glock 18 remains one of the coolest machine gun experiences.” – HeliBacon
